In Castlebay there are shops, Tourist Information Centre, bank, post-office, cafe, library, swimming pool, sports centre, hotels, local bars, bike hire and the Barra Heritage Centre Trips to Mingulay can be arranged, also sea angling trips -numbers and weather permitting.

810354 . There are no boats available for hire . All lochs are suitable for float
tubes, but it is advisable to wear a lifejacket.
Golf Club. Barra Golf Club was established in 1992 . Situated at Cleat, on the west coast of the island it is 6 miles from Castlebay and is the most westerly golf coarse in the United Kingdom It is exceptionally attractive with stunning views out over the Atlantic. The 9 hole coarse is 2579 yards and has elevated links with natural contours. Green fees are payable at local hotels, the Tourist Office and Co-Chomun Bharraidh. The visitor daily rate is £10. |
